![]() ![]() It doesn't use much CPU, hash checks are fast, and seeding speeds are decent (up to 10x faster than uTorrent). The program doesn't crash, but you'll need to stop all the downloads and then gradually restart them, perhaps using a lower queue setting.įor seeding on Windows, qBittorrent 4.5.0 lt1.2 qt5 is the best there is (but it could be better with a built in MLC SSD read cache). It can have up to about 120 active downloads before a disk cache bug sets in and kills your download speeds. It uses a lot of CPU, but is stable (and sluggish) with up to 5000 torrents. ![]() The move to the array will defrag the files.įor poorly seeded (or near dead) shows, move the torrents to uTorrent 3.6 ($5 version). Use with sparse files, no pre-allocation, and have it save when done to your (large) spinning array. Disk overload can cause the program to crash as well as kill your download rate. If usage keeps climbing, you need to slow it down some with the global rate limiter. The global rate limiter is light-years ahead of qBittorrent's and you can set the speed by watching the RAM usage in Task Manager. This means you can download about 700 shows at 35MB/sec aggregate before disk overload sets in. This is a database server SSD with very high endurance (5000 to 30000 TBW life for the 400GB S3700) and about 10 to 20 times lower latency than consumer QLC or TLC SSDs. What works for me is downloading with uTorrent 2.2.1 with a MLC SSD. The fast ones appear to upset the disk cache and send it into a loop of fast-slow usually ending at zero speed. The pump and dump unstable speed issues make it impossible to download poorly seeded torrents when a few may be fast torrents. QBittorrent is worthless for downloading thousands of poorly seeded torrents. rTorrent also requires a Linux guru to setup. This is an issue because I needed to download 25,000 torrents to seed and help save a private live music site (most of the seeders left when the site had hardware issues, which took a few months to resolve). rTorrent is nice, but the WebUI doesn't let you add more than about 20 torrents at a time. there were lots of bugs and usability issues on both the seedbox version and the desktop version. I've also used the Windows desktop version of Deluge. I have used most clients, had a seedbox with Deluge and rTorrent too.
